Los Angeles-based Drive A are seeking out 100+ million BitTorrent users in a new online distribution model.
Having crisscrossed the United States and Canada for the past year on tour with the likes of Bullet For My Valentine, Escape The Fate, The Used and Hollywood Undead, the band are partnering with BitTorrent, Inc. – a San Francisco-based innovator of advanced technologies to efficiently move large files across the Internet – to make their new album, “The World in Shambles”, available to the world at-large.
Drive A has always exemplified a non-traditional approach and methodology to their career. The band started their own label, Dead Conflict Records, which produces their own albums and music videos, and is now looking at ways to embrace the power of the Internet by distributing their album directly to BitTorrent’s online community of more than 100 million users worldwide.
“We are ecstatic to be able to make our album available to as many people as possible,” said Bruno Mascolo, singer/guitarist with Drive A.
“We’re an independent band without a major label machine behind us and we approach our music with a different philosophy. Along with traditional physical and digital retail outlets, BitTorrent helps us accomplish our goals of getting our music out to a worldwide audience.”
“The digital era has forever altered the way we discover, listen, share and market music,” said Shahi Ghanem, chief strategist at BitTorrent.
“At BitTorrent, we look to partner with artists who understand and follow the trends affecting the music business. We hope to help further these artists’ success through the utilization of our technology and user base. It’s truly a thrill to be a part of the future of music distribution and to partner with cutting-edge bands like Drive A.”
BitTorrent are spotlighting the album in their ‘Spotlight Artist’ programme and will make the album available through web and software install promotions, as well as in the custom interactive App Studio within the company’s BitTorrent and µTorrent software.
Existing users of the BitTorrent and µTorrent software may download the album directly from the App Studio. If you don’t have either piece of software, you can download it from www.bittorrent.com or www.utorrent.com.
