Machine Head’s “The Blackening” has been named the best album released so far this century by Roadrunner Records.
The band’s seminal 2007 album topped a poll undertaken via the label’s official Facebook page. Although only released last month, Machine Head’s latest album, “Unto The Locust” also makes it into the top ten fan favourites, which also features three albums by Slipknot and two by Within Temptation, while Alter Bridge, Opeth and Trivium complete the chart with one entry apiece.
The top ten albums, as voted by the fans, are:

3. Opeth – “Ghost Reveries” (2005)
4. Slipknot – “Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses” (2004)
5. Alter Bridge – “AB III” (2010)
6. Machine Head – “Unto The Locust” (2011)
7. Slipknot – “All Hope Is Gone” (2008)
8. Trivium – “Ascendancy” (2005)
9. Within Temptation – “The Unforgiving” (2011)
10. Within Temptation – “The Heart Of Everything” (2007)
