Mark Lanegan Releases New Solo Album And Annouces Tour Dates

One of the founding fathers of the grunge movement, Mark Lanegan, releases his first solo album in more than seven years, “Blues Funeral”, on 6th February, via 4AD. It features guest appearances from long-time friends and collaborators, Greg Dulli and Josh Homme, among others.

Lanegan was the front man for Screaming Trees, a band which, while widely regarding as innovators of the Seattle grunge sound, failed to measure up to the commercial success of contemporaries such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden. The band had released five albums by the time they tasted commercial success in 1992 with “Sweet Oblivion” and the accompanying ‘Nearly Lost You’ single. They recorded their last album, “Dust”, in 1996, and finally split in 1999.

Lanegan also was an on-off member of Queens Of The Stone Age between 2000 and 2005, featuring on the albums “Rated R”, “Songs For The Deaf” and “Lullabies To Paralyze”, and touring with the band, while also pursuing a solo career and a number of acclaimed collaborations, including with former Belle & Sebastian vocalist Isobel Campbell and two albums with Greg Dulli under the guise of The Gutter Twins. He also recorded three albums with Dulli’s The Twilight Sisters and has worked with British electronic acts Soulsavers and UNKLE.

“Blues Funeral” is Lanegan’s seventh solo album and will be accompanied by a European tour.
