Trucker Diablo Sign To Ripple Music

Trucker Diablo, who count Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider and Thin Lizzy’s Ricky Warwick among their fans, have been signed to the Californian Ripple Music label, initially on a two album deal.

Trucker are one of three Northern Ireland bands to have qualified for the massive ‘Highway To Hell 2’ battle of the bands competition in Glasgow in October, which has slots at ‘Hard Rock Hell’, ‘Hammerfest’ and ‘Hard Rock Hell Roadtrip’ as prizes. The other two are Last Known Addiction, who have just announced that former Black Freeway vocalist Matt Fitzsimmons has replaced the departed Steve Cairns, and Sweet Taste. Black Freeway had also qualified for the final, but have now disbanded (for the second time in less than a year).

The legendary Sweet Savage – one of the bands who inspired Metallica, who in turn covered SS’s ‘Killing Time’ – are headlining a very special tribute gig on Saturday 24 September, at Belfast’s Spring And Airbrake. It is in memory of Trevor Fleming, the band’s bass player, who passed away last October, and Tommy McManus, the Mama’s Boys drummer who lost his long battle with leukaemia back in November 1994. Tommy’s brother, Pat McManus, will also be on the bill, which is completed by Million Dollar Reload and Stevie K.

Eyes See Blind have signed with Monolith Management, a branch of American label, Matchless Records. The five-piece metalcore band are currently finishing work on their debut EP, ‘You’ll Never Kill The Tide’, with producer Neal Calderwood (The Answer, Mojo Fury), which is due for an autumn release.

Fresh from their new deal with Rising Records, Belfast’s Death Of A Salesman are heading out on a UK tour with labelmates The Dead Laying Waiting, starting in Birmingham on 22 September. Dead ‘Til Friday and Oceanfall are also heading to the mainland, for five dates in Liverpool, Cardiff, Birmingham, Exeter and London, starting on 23 September: I Divide complete the line up for this tour.

Post-hardcore crew LaFaro release their new album, ‘Easy Meat’, on 3 October. It will be preceded by a single, ‘Meat Wagon’, on 12 September, and supported by a full UK tour.

Comply Or Die release their new album, ‘Depths’, on 8 September, while death metallers Zombified release their new latest offering, ‘Backroom Eugenics’, through the Grind Scene label on 1 October. Gacy’s Threads are heading back into the studio to complete work on their ‘The Ignorance Of Purity’ EP, which is due out late September or early October. It will be followed by a full album next summer.
