Bloodstock Open Air 2015: Sunday Preview

On Sunday the SOPHIE stage is closed by the legendary Onslaught and Godflesh and the mainstage sees the triple whammy of Cannibal Corpse, Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society and Rob Zombie. That’s a stellar line-up already and if you need me to tell you about any of these bands then your heavy metal licence will be immediately revoked (or at least have points put on it). But there’s a whole heap more moshing to be done before we get there, so here’s a selection of some of the gems from the final day of the UK’s best metal festival....

Bloodstock Open Air 2015: Saturday Preview

As you emerge bleary eyed into the daylight on Saturday the 8th, you will probably have a list of bands you’re intent on checking out, but here’s some you may be less familiar with who are guaranteed to perk you up quicker than a double espresso injected into your eyeball: The SOPHIE stage is to be graced early afternoon with the mighty Jasad. Between The Buried And Me – Coma Ecliptic

Asking me to review the new opus magnificus from Between The Buried And Me is perhaps a pointless exercise. I’m almost certainly going to love it. So, I quite like them. But I have favourites and not-so-favourites in their back...

We probably all know about the big hitters headlining Bloodstock and those high up on the bill, and will have picked our favourites and “must sees” of the weekend already, but a festival is always a great place for getting a taste of newer bands or even checking out older bands that may never have crossed your radar. So, This Is Not A Scene tasked Dewie with selecting a few choice acts you might want to get yourself front and centre for over the weekend. Full 4-day tickets are still available and day tickets have just gone on sale...

Dan Reed and Danny Vaughn @ Slade Rooms, Wolverhampton, 1st April 2015

I don’t review gigs very often. I have always loved live music and find it difficult to relax and enjoy the moment if I’m constantly making notes and thinking about the set list. So tonight, as with most gigs, I bought a ticket to again see Reed and Vaughn try to sell their snake oil and harmony as well as a pint and came with a friend. But a few minutes in to this flawless performance I’m caught by the idea that I am lucky to have a medium through which to share just how good these two artists...
