Veteran Metallers Malice Sign To Steamhammer

MaliceReunited Los Angeles heavy metal legends Malice have signed to SPV/Steamhammer, with a new album due early in 2012.

The re-constituted band is made up of three original members — guitarists Mick Zane and Jay Reynolds and bassist Mark Behn— alongside former Michael Schenker Group drummer Pete Holmes and vocalist James Rivera, who previously has performed with Helstar, Flotsam And Jetsam, Seven Witches and, most recently, Vicious Rumors: the latter apparently beat off Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens for the slot at the microphone.

The quintet is currently recording updated versions of six classic Malice songs, including ‘Stellar Masters’ and ‘No Haven For The Raven’, as well as what they describe as “four killer new tracks”.

In a recent interview, Zane commented:

“We’re really stoked at the thought of getting back in the studio and releasing a new record. We released a new CD of rare and unreleased tracks last year that’s been doing very well. Everyone’s really going to like the new stuff.”

Malice‘s two mid-1980s albums — “In the Beginning” (1985) and “License to Kill” (1986) — are still available Stateside, on WEA subsidiary Wounded Bird, and have continued to sell over the years.
