Volbeat frontman Michael Poulsen
Danish elvis metallers Volbeat have recruited Mercyful Fate guitarist Hank Shermann to replace the recently departed Thomas Brehdal.
Shermann will make his début with his countrymen on the forthcoming Gigantour, on which Volbeat will be appearing alongside Lacuna Coil, Motorhead and Megadeth.
Commenting on the legendary axeman’s recruitment, Volbeat frontman Michael Poulsen said:
“It’s a true honour getting to work with Hank, whose guitar work has inspired all three band members long before Volbeat was formed.”
The Gigantour kicks off in New Jersey on 26 January and continues across the United States until the end of February.
Volbeat released their “Live From Beyond Hell/Above Heaven” CD and DVD package at the end of November.
